ARCTIC ROW 2026

In July 2026, four explorers — Florian Ramp, Roman Möckli, Ben von Mitzlaff, and Frederik Jacobs — will attempt something no one has ever done before: the first human-powered crossing of the Arctic Ocean by rowing boat.

Departing from Spitsbergen (Svalbard), the team will row north toward the edge of the North Polar ice shield, navigating waters where sea ice, the wilderness, and unpredictable winds rule. From there, their route will sweep past Greenland, continue along the eastern coast of Iceland, and finally reach land again in Orkney, Northern Scotland — a journey of roughly 50 days, powered by nothing but muscle, grit, and teamwork.

This is a true pioneering expedition — a venture “through the Arctic Ocean,” into one of the last places on Earth where humans have yet to go under their own power.

For Florian and Roman, both of whom have rowed separately across the Atlantic, this new challenge is a return to the unknown. Together with Ben and Frederik, they form a crew united by endurance, precision, and a shared desire to explore where few dare.

But this is more than an adventure.

As the Arctic transforms before our eyes — melting ice, shifting ecosystems, and new frontiers opening where ice once ruled — Arctic Row will serve as a vivid, real-time story of change. Every stroke through these icy waters is a call for awareness and action to protect the fragile polar regions that regulate our planet’s climate.
