Our Team

Florian

I first dipped an oar into the water in 1992, not knowing rowing would become the quiet force shaping my life. It taught me discipline, humility, and the strength of teamwork — lessons that stayed with me through my studies in Zurich and Sweden and later in building my own company.

In 2019, I rowed across the Atlantic — what began as a pair turned into a solo crossing when my partner fell ill. Alone with the ocean, I learned what resilience truly means.

Today, rowing still anchors me — from evenings with friends on the lake to preparing for new frontiers. I’m grounded by my wife and two children, whose support and belief turn every challenge into a shared adventure.

I’ve always been drawn to the edge of the map — places where nature sets the rules and curiosity becomes challenge. That pull led me from Switzerland across deserts, mountains, and oceans: running the Marathon des Sables, climbing alpine peaks, and skydiving whenever possible.

A Master’s in Mechanical Engineering deepened my fascination with how human ingenuity meets the elements, while living in five countries broadened my perspective. The ocean, however, has been my greatest teacher. As a freediver and diver, I learned calm and respect, and in 2021 I crossed — and won — the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

Now, together with Flo, Ben, and Frederik, I’m taking on a new frontier: the Arctic Row — where true adventure begins beyond comfort.

Frederik

I first picked up an oar at 12, and rowing has been a defining part of my life ever since. From the pristine lakes of Switzerland to the narrow river Cam during my MBA, and the tidal waters of the Thames, each stretch of water has deepened my connection to the sport.

As a father of three teenagers and husband to an incredible wife, I’m grateful for their support in this adventure — even if it comes with some understandable concern. It took time to find the right crew with the mix of experience, ambition, and trust to take on a truly pioneering challenge — and now we’re ready to row where few dare.

I’ve always felt most at home in nature — in the forests, mountains, or on the water. That curiosity for the elements and for how the human body works eventually led me to study medicine, but it also shaped how I approach challenge and uncertainty.

The North has always drawn me in with its raw, unpredictable conditions. During my recruit training in the Swiss Army, I learned the strength of true camaraderie, and as a doctor and TCCC instructor, I see how often the mind can go further than the body expects.

The Arctic Row brings these threads together: nature, teamwork, and the desire to push beyond familiar limits.
