After a couple of days on the para anchor we’re on the move again! At the same time we encounter some issues with our Star Link System which means we don’t have our internet up and running all the time. Minor issue and nothing to worry about!

What is a para anchor?

A para(chute) anchor is a parachute-like fabric device that is deployed in the water to slow a boat and stabilize its bow against wind and waves. You can see the rope at the back of the boat in the video. It is used as vital emergency and safety equipment in extreme offshore or ocean rowing.

The parachute anchor works on the same principle as a parachute: The anchor opens underwater like a small parachute or bag, generating significant pull due to the water's resistance.

It is attached to the bow of the rowing boat with a strong line. The pull keeps the boat's bow upright against the oncoming wind and waves.
